The ancient city of Dimali lies on the western side of Shpirag Mountain, on the left side of the Berat-Fier highway. The ruins of the ancient city are positioned in the place called Krotina Castle, a toponym taken from the neighborhood of the same name in the village of Allambrez.

It rises 444 m above sea level and the strategic position of the hill created quite favorable conditions for the development of a settlement in ancient times. The proximity of the city to other important settlements such as Apollonia and Bylis, gave a special importance to the development of trade relations with these centers.
The identification of the ruins of the settlement on the hill of Krotina is presented for the first time by the Austrian archaeologist K. Prashniker, during the period of the First World War.
